So we are feeling excited and ramped up about our fitness goal! But how do we stay on course? With so many obstacles getting in the way, how do we make sure we won’t fall off the track.
Address your obstacles BEFORE they happen
What are the biggest issues you have getting to your goal?
Is your spouse and family supportive? Is it hard to make it to the gym after a long day at work? Does it seem like you constantly have a birthday party or dinner celebration? Do you have a habit of self sabotage or late night snacking?
We can expect that things happen in life. It is okay to not be perfect. It is okay to fall off the wagon. It is NOT okay to stay down when we fall.
The best way to avoid life’s pitfalls is to have a solution before the problem arises
Problem:
I am someone who absolutely loves to snack after dinner. But I choose the wrong snacks and have a habit of over eating
Solution:
I brush my teeth after dinner and I am not allowed any food after 6pm.
Problem:
I always feel so tired after work and get into a bad habit of skipping the gym promising myself “I will go later”
Solution:
Have all of your gym stuff ready to go so as soon as you are off work, you are heading straight to the gym.
I used to be so tired after work I would convince myself I would go after just making a quick stop at home. Yup you guessed it, I didn’t go at all because I couldn’t pull myself off the couch once I got cozy.
We want to have an answer to the pitfalls, so when it happens, we know what to do.
It is a lot harder to think rationally when emotions are running high and energy levels are low
