Now before we get into this, I want you to know that diet is very individual. I can give you guidelines but every person is different based on a variety of things (genetics, daily energy requirements, muscle mass, allergies and so much more).

For instance – I highly recommend eggs. Eggs are nutritious, a healthy source of protein and they are nutrient dense. However, I have clients that cannot eat eggs for one reason or another.

So, just because something works for one person, doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for you.

The best way to know if something is working for you, is to stay in tune with your body.

What does that mean? It means noticing after you eat something – how does it make you feel. Do you feel energized? Do you feel tired, bloated and lethargic? Try to pay attention to those clues in order to know if something is working for your body – or against it.

Guidelines for a healthy diet:

Fill your plate with healthy veggies first, then lean protein.

Make your plate colorful! Choose different healthy veggies as they will have different vitamins and nutrients

Drink plenty of water, make sure this is your main source of liquid.

Shop around the perimeter of the grocery store as most of the time the refined, processed items will be in the middle.

If something has to TELL you its healthy, it’s more than likely not.

The more ingredients listed, the less likely it is going to be healthy. Especially when you can’t pronounce or understand half of them.

Sugar is hidden in many different ways, and called many different names. Examples: Sucrose, fructose, high fructose corn syrup, dextrose, lactose, maltodextrin, maltose, cane syrup, molasses, fruit juice, agave nectar

I hope this helps you create guidelines for a healthy diet. If you have any questions regarding health or fitness, please don’t hesitate to ask!
